what do you think of star tattoos?

Q: some people just look at them as pretty art, some people say just another tattoo, but there are those who think that having a star on you is a sign that you are in a gang. i myself have 4 stars on my back, for each of my children, and people assume all the time that i am a VL and i have no affiliation with any kind of gang. what do you think?

A: I think that assuming the motivation behind a tattoo is just as wrong as assuming someone's clothing is a guarenteed sign of something. I wore a red bandanna while cleaning my garage last weekend, does that make me a gang member? No. So anyone who assumes you are in a gang just because they've seen someone in a gang that has the same shape tattooed as you is ignorant and not worth your time or energy.

is this too much for this tattoos?? is 150$ a bit too high for a 3 inch Taurus symbol tattoos?

Q: i went looking for a tattoo artist to do my next tattoo i wanna get my zodiac symbol which is Taurus ( i was born on 4/23/91) however i want to give it a little twist i want to get it inside of a star like having the outline of the star and it would be black leaving the silhouette of the Taurus symbol and i want it like 3-4 inches max. and the artist that i spoke with said that it will cost approx 150$ and im thinking that its kinda a bit too high these are the pictures that i took with me to show him what i want : http://hamsher.deviantart.com/art/Tattoo-Stars-73841025 ( the 2nd star from the top) http://i-am-socket.deviantart.com/art/simple-taurus-74533090 ( but not as thick) i know that there is no "universal" price for it every shops charges differently

A: That's a bit high, in my opinion. Always "shop" around before getting a tattoo... looking for a good price, BUT a clean and professional shop. I went to one of the best around when I got my first one a while ago, and it cost me $120. (I tipped him $20.) It's about 3 inches wide, about 4 inches tall. Very colorful, too.

A: i have 2 tattoos(3?) i have 2 swallows on my back(shoulder blade area) and a half sleeve of a hannya on my right arm. ive been thinking of tattoo ideas ever since i was young, The swallows were between that and some sort of cross but i was going to get the cross on my lower abdomen and i thought that would be weird so i opted for the swallows(which i was eeventually getting anyways)... The hanya has been my favorite traditional japenese tattoo ever since ive known what that meant so it was a must but there was a year in between the swallows and the hanya so i could be positive i had it exactly where i want it. I have plans to make it a full sleeve and to turn the swallows into a nautical(traditional) themed full back piece. Ive been trying to decide for the past 2 years now wether i want to get a chest piece or continue the japenese theme out that way and get a geisha lady on my pec and then do whatever on the other side. I already have tattos that i wont be getting till im an adult planned out.... assuming i will have 2 kids(which is what i want) i will have there names on my wrist(but unlike the average person mine will be in there hand writting as soon as they learn to write) and on my sides i will have there footprints, im thinking 4 or 5 feet on each side. They will be done at different points in the first year of 2 of there lives so that the print gets slightly larger with each 'step' they take. When my mother eventually passes(which i hope will not be for a very long time) i will be getting praying hands somewhere on my body because shes very religous and attends stations of the cross every week. i wouldnt suggest the stars ... its such a common design, if your set on stars have the artist draw something unique for you... it will most likely look beter because he can make it fit to your body beter. if you cant tell i plan on being covered by the time im old but i like to take my time and think about my tattoos as apposed to doing it spur of the moment like many people do. also as far as the zodiac ideas go ive been thinking about representing mine too(pisces) but if i did i would do it with koi fish to keep it japenese and different... this has been a major debate for me tho because a koi swimming down strem is bad luck. tinkerbell.... did you look into the meaning of swallows at all? they represent many things... for sailors each swallow represent 5000 nautical miles traveled. they usually get them on their chest(but back is an option) because its said that if they were drowing they lift them up and save them. Also there a sign to all sailors that land is near as they mostly nest on or close to the coast line. Also they choose 1 mate and stick with them for life so that represent faithfulness.

Q: I have a tattoo of a sparrow on my ribs, and I'm wanting to get some stars below it on my side. I need some ideas and inspiration though. NO NAUTICAL STARS! And I would prefer if they weren't any colors but black, white and /or grey. And please, no photobucket, flickr or deviant art links.

Jeweled art tattoos?!?

Q: Hello. I'm 16, and today is my semi-formal! I really wanted to do something unique this year! I've been searching temporary tattoos using sharpies, and jeweled body art! I'm not sure if sharpies are that safe to use on skin, even though "non-toxic". I don't want i to look tacky or anything, of coarse! Then I was looking at jeweled bod art. I have all sorts of face jems to glitters, to colorful eyeliners, to star-shaped jewels from the art supply store. I will be dancing for about 4 hours! So, i'll have to use some strong eyelash glue, spearmint gum, or even tacky glue! What are some of your little genius' ideas?! -Thanks SO much!

A: sharpies are safe, and they wont smear but they'll bleed (like, the lines will get fatter when you sweat). and when i wear body gems, even near my eyes, (and its nowhere near as bad as it sounds) i use nail glue. if the gems are only small, they'll stay on as long as you want them to, and when you take them off, it doesnt hurt and they come off easily, and just put some moisturiser on your skin and itll be fine.
