Small Star Tattoos?

Q: I will be 18 next month and I've thought about getting tattoos for a while now, a couple years really. I'm 5 foot 6 inches tall, weight 135 lbs., 34C up top, athletic body, and I have long dirty blonde hair. My nails are always black and I'm the type of girl that most people characterize just because of my navel piercing. Sorry, I just want you to have an idea of what I look like. So what's your opinion on me getting three small star tattoos on: my lower middle back, left inner wrist, and right hip? Should they be different colors? Different sizes? Also, what do you know about daith piercings? How much am I going to end up paying for this stuff??

A: Since you are only 18..I would go for the hip area..the back is out...due to the stars are going to be too small for such a big area. The wrist..one day you will regret it....when trying to get jobs or even married.....think about it before you mark your body. I would def. go for the hip area...

Do small tattoos mess up ?

Im thinking of getting a tattoo, but the girl that was in the shop told me that the size that i wanted for my tattoo was too small (its 7cmx3cm or something, i don't consider it small i have seen smaller tattoos) i think that she said that as an strategy for sale, i didn't trust her response, i dont want to get something bigger for my first one, that tattoo is going to be a trial, so i don't want it big...i would get pissed if they ruin my skin.. A: Are you worried about the artists ability to do good work? Is that why you want it so small? Or are you afraid of the permanence of it (you refer to ruining your skin)? If that's the case then you need to find a better artist that you feel completely comfortable with (in regards to her ability) or your just not ready for a tattoo. You shouldn't be wanting to get a tattoo very very small just in case you don't like it, or if they mess up (you need to be 100% on the design before you ever put needle to skin and have full confidence in the artist). You get them small either because the area you want it is small, or you need to hide it for work or something, not because you don't think you'll want it forever. And honestly, what your talking about is very small. BTW, just because you've seen tattoos smaller doesn't mean that they're old and have already spread. You really do need to go bigger, the more detail you have the bigger it needs to be even if you doubled the size you'd still (most likely) be at the shop's minimum. Not everyone is trying to scam you, sometimes they really are trying to give you the best advice possible. Besides, it does a tattoo artist zero good to have a shitty tattoo out there for people to see.

Why are girls/young women with tattoos (beyond lower back and small ink) not commonly seen on magazines/tv?

Q: Other than Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox, I cannot think of any popular female celebs who are considered sex symbols/attractive that have more than a couple of small star tattoos or a lower back piece. (Kat Von D doesn't count to me because she does ink for a living). Why is it we don't see a girl on Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, etc or even on the cover of Cosmo and stuff like that with visible tattoos that aren't really tiny (ex. 3 to 4 stars on the wrist or foot)?

A: Because in the entertainment industry, it's frowned on. Things are moving away from that direction, but ever so slowly. Also, many of the wide assortment of acting roles in the industry, call for no skin art, in order to play various roles. So, in many ways, it's just common sense. Note that the same does not hold true for musicians, who do just fine being themselves. Ozzy is just one example.

Guys, what is your opinion of girls with tattoos?

Q: I for one think large tattoos on woman is a little butch but what about small ones? I happen to have a few small tasteful tattoos in fairly easily hidden places. I have a star on my hip bone with the name 'jess' in it (this is a dedication to my 13 year old cousin who was raped and killed 2 years ago), a tiny butterfly behind my right ear, a heart on my left wrist (over the veins) and the kanji for love on the right wrist in the same place. Is there anything wrong with these tattoos? Maybe I should have said this before but my other 3 tattoos have meaning to me too. My butterfly was a design done by my older sister and we got matching tattoos done in the same place. And the ones on my wrist, well a few years back I had 'self harm' issues an use to cut my self a lot. When my parents found out they helped me and showed me all the love they had for me to help me through it, I decided to get the heart and the love kanji to show that it was love that stopped me doing that to myself and to remind myself that no matter what happens and what I've done, I'll always be loved. So no, I did not just pick them out of a book at a tattoo joint and go 'oh that looks nice'. If I'm going to have something forever inked on my skin it has to have meaning.

What is a good small tattoo design for a girl on the neck or behind the ear?

Q: I want to get a tattoo on the back of my neck, under my hairline or behind the ear. Something small and simple. I'm going away for college and want something that symbolizes my mom my sister and I. I was thinking something like a sun/moon and a star or a crescent moon and two stars. Any ideas? or pictures of some nice designs? I'm looking to keep discreet nothing too big.
