Is there a significance with USMC and red & black star tattoos?

Q: I have a few friends who are in the Corps who have a tattoo on the back of each arm, or their elbows, one of a red star with black outline, and one of a black star with red outline. I was just wondering if there was a certain significance in these tattoos? I haven't been able to get ahold of them to ask them.. I'm at college and they're either deployed, or back home, and I don't have a way of getting in contact with them. I just happened to see a guy on the street earlier with the same tatoos, and it made me think about them. They aren't nautical. They are just simple stars. Not trying to sound rude, but I do know the difference between the two. I spent my HS years in a tattoo shop lol. Ok so I saw the guy from earlier, the one I passed on the street, and I asked him, and he said there wasn't any significance to him, he was just 18 and thought they looked cool when he got them lol. So idk, it might just be a thing, with no real importance...

A: Due to the tattoos being located on the elbows and or on opposite sides of the bodies I would say that it is most likely some type of take or twist on a nautical star. The opposite sides marking port and starboard. That and if one star is a contrast of the other stars color this would again lead me to believe me to think they are maybe just a derivation of a nautical star. I'm willing to bet it is only of personal significance, and is a design picked or created by them as something they like. The design and idea of two stars of contrasting color on opposite sides of the body originated from the nautical star and has become very popular as a salty dog, punk and more recently hard rock, sailor jerry style thing although it is also popular in other walks. It fits well with many other tattoo styles and can even be used to blend old with new styles. As far as I know and have seen with the marines I know there is no Marine Corp Significance to this style or any star as a tattoo. This is only far as the Corp in it's entirety goes. Specific units, duty stations, etc. could have their own affiliation with the design you are curious about. Working, training, fighting, and getting tattooed along side Marines I've never heard of any sort of connection. That's just my experience though. Of course the only way to know for sure is to ask them whenever you are able to see them again. I hope I could at least provide some idea or fathom of an idea. A: My bf's brother got two nautical stars on the inside of his forearms. They look wicked cool and apparently they have a really good meaning to them. Something about finding your way home. Anyway, they look good and not girly at all. Hope this helps.

Getting a job as a chef WITH tattoos on arm?

A: That's it, you shouldn't have trouble if you are behind doors doing your thing and not interacting with customers. However, some upscale restaurants, have a finicky attitude and even sweat what people behind the flapping doors look like. It all depends on the caliber of the place you work.

What could I get to cover up on a star on my inner arm?

A: You first need to find your design for your body. Look for ideas you like. Keep in mind you are already doing a cover up. Be sure this time! If it's due to poor work, artist shop first. Be sure they are licensed, trained, bloodborne pathogens certified, and can cover this for you. Possibly they are skilled enough and can actually draw a cover up right on you to fit & flow with your body & existing artwork. Look at their portfolios, and go to their shop to verify they can do all the above. I can tell you flowers can always be made to work. Roses in particular. Good luck to you! Hope this helps. A: tribal tattoos are great to cover old ones they are mostly black and there are thousands of designs and sizes to cover most sizes :)
